Topology Optimization for Electromagnetic devices -Recent topics
Recent topics in Topology Optimization (TO) of electromagnetic devices are presented. The TO requires high computational cost because the TO should search the optimum shapes from broad search space. The papers about TO have been published recently in keeping with improvement of computer performance. The typical application of TO in electromagnetic devices is synchronous motor. In particular, Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) motor is suitable for TO. In this presentation, evolutionary algorithms such as genetic algorithm are introduced. Optimization examples of IPM motor using the evolutionary algorithms are shown.
Kota Watanabe received M.E. degree at Hokkaido University in 1997, and jointed Hitachi Cable. Ltd. Since 1999, he was a Research Associate at Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, Hokkaido University. He received D.E. in 2006. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Engineering, Muroran Institute of Technology. His current research interests include computational electromagnetics and optimization.
